if someone uses video as an excuse to shoot loads of **** then so be it, its thier loss tho becos they wont get anywhere... personaly id rather make the chioce to actually think about what im doing rather than be forced into it becos every mistake i make is gunna cost me another 30 bucks in film...

dont get me wrong... i think film is great, but being forced into thinking about things becos its so expensive just seems silly to me

Nigel has a good piont... try and get into photography. It will teach you loads about film without it costing the earth becos its one still not 24 a second. And not only that it will help alot with stuff like compositions and lighting.

I wish i had learnt photography at school... they did classes in it. Ah well... too late now.

I have a 'vision' as such.

I've written a screenplay for a short film (about half an hour) and as such, it seems that video would be the best.

Taking into account everything the people who have been kind enough to reply has said (and a few over thigns a few other people have told me) and taking into account I'm not tyring to make El Mariachi, I;ve decided that video seems the bets bet.

I'm not of the opinion that this was a film versus video debate.

You should concern yourself with which camera gives you the most flexibility for Audio recording. Nothing kills a film faster than mismatched audio.
